Mississippi man arrested for targeting Pennsylvania synagogues, Jewish-owned businesses

An individual from Mississippi has been taken into custody on serious charges for allegedly harassing Pennsylvanian synagogues and Jewish-owned establishments by repeatedly calling them, with some receiving up to 15 threatening calls, containing antisemitic content.

Donavon Parish, a 28-year-old resident of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was indicted on June 27 for cyberstalking and making threats across state lines, as announced by the U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday.

If found guilty, Parish could face a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison and a fine of $2.5 million. No defense attorney has been identified at this time.

IMPACT OF HEAVY RAINFALL ON CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI

Utilizing voice-over-internet-protocol technology, Parish targeted three businesses and three synagogues during the months of April and May 2022, according to the indictment. A federal grand jury concluded that his selection of these specific locations was based on the religious affiliation of the individuals present, and he made threatening remarks about harming Jewish individuals during the calls.

One business received 15 calls from Parish, and he made at least two calls to a synagogue that also housed a preschool and kindergarten, as outlined in the indictment.
