MA restaurant employee gets time served for giving Brazilian colleagues fake green cards

A former worker at the Taste of Brazil – Tudo Na Brasa restaurant in Woburn, originally from El Salvador, received his sentence in federal court in Boston for providing false identification documents to Brazilian coworkers who did not have work authorization. Marcos Chacon Gil, aged 29, was given a sentence of time served, which amounted to approximately 10 months, along with two years of supervised release. He had pleaded guilty to transferring false identification documents on May 23, 2023.

Chacon Gil had been employed at Taste of Brazil for a period of three years starting in 2014. However, starting around 2018, he began supplying false identification documents to Brazilian colleagues at the restaurant who did not have the legal right to work in the United States. Specifically, on February 20, 2020, Chacon Gil provided a fellow employee with a counterfeit green card and Social Security card.
