Khalilh Evans, 44, was accused of attempting to take the teenager at the Willow Grove Park Mall after she got separated from her friends while shopping.

Abington Detectives identified Evans as the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest, charging him with false imprisonment of a minor, a serious offense. With the help of the Philadelphia Police Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Office, Evans was taken into custody after contacting his lawyer and agreeing to surrender.

He is currently being held at the Abington Police Department and will face a judge for arraignment. During a press conference, Abington Police Chief Patrick Mallow displayed Evans’ lengthy criminal record, which includes various weapons charges, firearm possession, aggravated assault, and terroristic threats.

Mallow emphasized that Evans was a dangerous individual who should not have been free on the streets, noting that there were reports of him approaching other young women in the mall and potentially in other locations. The police chief described the incident as chilling and alarming, causing a sense of unease.

Another individual who was believed to be present during the attempted abduction has not been charged yet, and the investigation is ongoing. The authorities are working diligently to gather more information and ensure that justice is served in this case.
