New York man pleads guilty to 2021 fatal shooting of 31-year-old, captured on video

New York man pleads guilty to 2021 fatal shooting of 31-year-old, captured on video

A man from East Islip, New York, has admitted to murder and firearm offenses related to the deadly shooting of a 31-year-old man in 2021, which was captured on video.

Ismael Rodriguez-Rosado pleaded guilty to the killing of German Ariel Montes De Oca Ramirez of Bay Shore outside a restaurant in August 2021, as announced by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

According to investigators, Rodriguez-Rosado and Montes De Oca Ramirez engaged in an altercation outside Mi Nueva Encanto Restaurant and Bar in Central Islip around 1 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2021.

During the dispute, Rodriguez-Rosado fatally shot Montes De Oca Ramirez four times with a 9 mm pistol.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots outside the bar and observed a red Ford Edge SUV fleeing the scene southbound on Carleton Avenue.

Afterwards, Rodriguez-Rosado drove the SUV to a gas station, where undercover officers identified the vehicle and tried to prevent it from leaving. Despite hitting the undercover vehicle, Rodriguez-Rosado managed to escape the parking lot.

He then led law enforcement on a chase down Commack Road, driving recklessly towards oncoming traffic.

An officer managed to stop Rodriguez-Rosado’s vehicle by striking its rear wheel, leading to his arrest.

With the assistance of the Suffolk County Police K-9 unit, investigators located the murder weapon approximately a mile away from where Rodriguez-Rosado was apprehended.

Surveillance footage capturing the homicide was also recovered and reviewed by the authorities.

It was revealed that Rodriguez-Rosado had previously been convicted of first-degree attempted robbery in 2016, resulting in a two-year prison sentence followed by three years of post-release supervision.

Appearing before Suffolk County Court Judge Stephen Braslow, Rodriguez-Rosado pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Commenting on the case, Tierney stated, “This defendant callously took the life of Mr. Montes De Oca Ramirez and then tried to evade accountability for his actions. Thanks to the exceptional efforts of Suffolk County police officers, the defendant was swiftly apprehended after a high-speed pursuit. Additionally, the murder weapon was recovered by a K-9 unit, and video evidence of the crime was obtained. This exemplifies effective policing.”
