The suspects, Anthony Dasilva, 45, and Nathaniel Valassis, 25, both residents of San Jose, were taken into custody on Thursday for their alleged involvement in the distribution and sale of illegal fireworks. The city officials made an announcement regarding the arrests on Friday.

The incident came to light on June 14 when officers responded to a fire at a Public Storage facility on Blossom Hill Road, which resulted in significant damage to the storage complex.

According to a press release from the San Jose Police Department, initial reports suggested that the fire was caused by multiple illegal fireworks igniting in one of the storage units.

Following the incident, Fire Department investigators and police detectives were able to identify the suspects and locate other storage units containing potentially illegal fireworks.

Subsequently, the police obtained search warrants for various residences and storage units, which were executed over several days and multiple operations.

During the search, authorities not only found a large quantity of fireworks but also discovered 13 ounces of methamphetamine, 200 grams of cocaine, an undisclosed amount of marijuana, a semi-automatic firearm, and approximately $4,800 in cash.

The San Jose police department is currently conducting an active investigation into the matter, and no further details are available at this time.
